# Marquee

The **Marquee** element repeats a list of texts in a continuously scrolling line. Use it to announce an offer, show several messages or display a series of words. You can also add a wave to the text.

Open **Elements** in the top toolbar, choose **Marquee** in the **Text** category and place it in your section. Select the block to open its settings.

## Texts and spacing

Add your messages to the list. Click an entry to edit its **Text** field. The list actions let you reorder, duplicate and delete entries.

**Space between texts** sets the distance between messages from **0 to 10 em**, in steps of 0.25. You can adjust it even when scrolling is disabled.

The **em** unit follows the font size: 1 em equals that size. Spacing and wave intensity therefore scale with the text as the block changes size in the grid. A speed in **em/s** describes how many times that size the text travels per second.

## Fade edges

Enable **Fade edges** to fade text in and out at the left and right ends of the block. This setting is independent of scrolling and wave motion.

## Scrolling

The **Scrolling** switch opens two settings:

- **Direction**: **Left** or **Right**.
- **Speed**: **0.25 to 18.75 em/s**, in steps of 0.25.

Texts repeat without pausing or visibly jumping back to the start of the list. Disable the switch to stop horizontal movement. This clears the direction; enabling it again starts scrolling left at 0.25 em/s. Spacing, edge fading and wave motion remain independent.

## Wave motion

Enable **Wave motion** to position letters along a wave. You can use the wave with or without horizontal scrolling.

| Setting | Effect | Range |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| Wave intensity | Height of the wave | 0.05 to 6.25 em |
| Wave length | Distance between wave peaks; higher values produce wider curves | 25 to 300% |
| Wave speed | Speed at which the wave moves | 0 to 12.5 em/s |
| Wave direction | Direction of the wave, independent of the text | Left or Right |
| Letter tilt | Letter rotation to follow the curve | 0 to 100%; at 0%, letters remain upright |

At a **Wave speed** of 0, the wave stays fixed while the text scrolls. Increase the speed to move the wave. For example, scroll the messages left and move the wave right to combine the two movements.

Disabling **Wave motion** removes the wave and clears its settings. Enabling it again starts with intensity at 0.05 em, length at 100%, speed at 0, direction set to right and letter tilt at 100%.

## Color and typography

The [text style](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/editor/style/text.md) section opens when you select the block. Choose its **color** and **font**, which apply to every message in the list. Horizontal text alignment is not offered for this continuous strip.

Check the result at different screen sizes in the editor preview, then publish the page. When a visitor requests reduced motion, the text remains visible without moving.

To show successive messages with an entrance animation, see [Animated text](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/editor/menu/text-animated.md).
