## 20% off the whole store {#store-wide-discount}

**Example**: `SPRING20` gives 20% off every product.

<DocsSteps>

1. In **Coupons**, click **Create a discount coupon** and enter `SPRING20` in **Coupon code**.
2. Keep **Products only** in **Discount applies to**.
3. Choose **Percentage discount**, enter `20`, turn on no rule and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: 20% off products, shipping at the normal rate. The **Preview** says "No conditions: usable across the whole shop".

## €10 off from €50 {#discount-with-minimum}

**Example**: `TENOFF` takes €10 off from €50 of products.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `TENOFF`, choose **Fixed amount discount** and enter `10`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Require a minimum order value**, enter `50` and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: €62 of products drops to €52. Below €50 of products (shipping not counted), the code is refused.

Learn more: [Limit a coupon](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#limit-a-coupon).

## Free shipping with a code {#free-shipping-with-a-code}

**Example**: `FREESHIP` makes shipping free.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `FREESHIP` and choose **Shipping only** in **Discount applies to**.
2. Choose **Percentage discount** and enter `100`.
3. Add **Require a minimum order value** if needed, then save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: shipping at €0, whatever the method; products at full price. To offer it to everyone above an amount, with no code, set **Free shipping above a certain amount** on your [shipping method](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/shippings.md) instead.

Learn more: [Offer free shipping with a code](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#free-shipping).

## Sale on a category {#sale-on-a-category}

**Example**: 30% off the "Summer" category, whatever the quantity.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `SUMMERSALE`, choose **Percentage discount** and enter `30`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Restrict to certain categories**, tick "Summer" and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: every item in the category is discounted, every unit included (three €20 T-shirts: €18 off). A fixed amount, by contrast, is taken once from the category's total.

Learn more: [Discount only some products or categories](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#products-and-categories).

## Discount on one product {#discount-on-one-product}

**Example**: 15% off the "Fig" candle.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `FIG15`, choose **Percentage discount** and enter `15`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Restrict to certain products**, add the candle and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the discount covers a single unit: out of three candles, only the first is 15% off. To discount every unit, put the product in a dedicated [category](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/collections.md) (for example "Fig promo") and follow [Sale on a category](#sale-on-a-category).

Learn more: [Discount only some products or categories](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#products-and-categories).

## 20% off capped at €30 {#capped-percentage}

**Example**: 20% off, never more than €30 per order.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `TWENTY`, choose **Percentage discount** and enter `20`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Maximum discount**, enter `30` and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: €20 off on €100, €30 (instead of €50) on €250. The list shows **Capped at €30**.

Learn more: [Limit a coupon](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#limit-a-coupon).

## Code limited to the first 100 uses {#limited-code}

**Example**: `LAUNCH` gives 15% off to the first 100 orders.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `LAUNCH`, choose **Percentage discount** and enter `15`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Limit the number of uses**, enter `100` and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: each order paid with the code counts, all customers combined ("Used 37 of 100 times"). At 100, the coupon switches to **Expired** and is refused. There is no "once per customer" limit: for a personal code, see [Goodwill gesture for one customer](#gesture-for-one-customer).

Learn more: [Limit a coupon](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#limit-a-coupon).

## Code with an end date {#code-with-end-date}

**Example**: `BLACKFRIDAY` gives 25% off from Friday, November 27 to Sunday, November 29, 2026.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `BLACKFRIDAY`, choose **Percentage discount** and enter `25`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Add an expiration date** and pick Monday, November 30, 2026.
3. If you create it in advance, choose **Disabled coupon** in **Status**, save, then on Friday morning switch it to **Active coupon**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the code works all weekend and switches to **Expired** on Monday at midnight. A coupon has no start date (you turn it on by hand) and the expiration cuts the code off at the start of the chosen day: pick the day after the last day.

Learn more: [Limit a coupon](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#limit-a-coupon).

## Goodwill gesture for one customer {#gesture-for-one-customer}

**Example**: damaged parcel, you offer Claire Martin €10 off her next order.

<DocsSteps>

1. Create the coupon `THANKS-CLAIRE`, choose **Fixed amount discount** and enter `10`.
2. Under **Rules**, turn on **Reserve for one member** and search Claire by name or email.
3. Turn on **Limit the number of uses**, enter `1`, save and send the code to Claire.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: only Claire, signed in, can use it, once. It shows in the **Discount coupons** card of her [member profile](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/members.md). Without a customer account, keep a unique code limited to one use (anyone who knows it can use it), or [credit her points](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/guides/customers.md#reward-a-loyal-customer) if you run a loyalty program.

Learn more: [Reserve a coupon for one customer](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#reserve-for-a-member).

## Gift card {#gift-card}

**Example**: a customer buys a €50 gift card for his sister.

Vivlab has no gift card with a balance spent over several orders; a one-use, fixed-amount coupon comes close.

<DocsSteps>

1. Collect payment for the card (in your shop or through a dedicated product on your site).
2. Create a coupon with a readable code, for example `GIFT-2026-K7P4`, with **Products and shipping** and a **Fixed amount discount** of `50`.
3. Turn on **Limit the number of uses** at `1`, save and send the code.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: €50 is taken off, shipping included. On a €35 order, the remaining €15 is lost: let the buyer know. One card is one code: for ten cards, create ten coupons.

Learn more: [Sell a gift card](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#sell-gift-cards).

## Fix a coupon you already created {#fix-a-coupon}

**Example**: you created `SALE` at 10% off instead of 20%. A saved coupon can no longer be edited, only its status changes.

<DocsSteps>

1. In the **More actions** menu on the `SALE` row, choose **Duplicate**: the form opens with the code `SALE_2`.
2. Enter `20` in **Discount percentage**, change the code if needed and save.
3. Delete or disable the old `SALE`.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the right discount applies. Codes are unique: to keep `SALE`, delete the old one before saving the copy. To only extend the expiration or change the number of uses, ask the **Assistant** button: Assistant Vivlab applies the change after you confirm.

Learn more: [Fix a coupon you already created](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#fix-a-coupon).

## Stop a promotion {#stop-a-promotion}

**Example**: the `SPRING20` event is over.

<DocsSteps>

1. Click the `SPRING20` row.
2. In **Status**, choose **Disabled coupon** and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the code switches to **Inactive** and stays listed with its uses, ready to reuse. For several codes, tick their rows and choose **Deactivate**. **Delete** erases them permanently.

Learn more: [Disable or delete a coupon](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/coupons.md#disable-a-coupon).

## Loyalty points {#loyalty-points}

**Example**: 1 point per euro spent, 100 points exchanged for €5.

With the [loyalty program](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/loyalty.md) (Business or Confort plan, open member area), the customer collects points and picks their voucher at checkout. Steps: [Customers and loyalty](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/guides/customers.md#launch-a-loyalty-program).

**Result**: the voucher is a one-use code reserved for the customer, which can't be combined with another code in the same order.

## Crossed-out price and automatic discounts {#crossed-out-price}

**Example**: the "Linen" dress at €49 instead of €65, with no code. Vivlab has no automatic discount: a coupon always requires a code. Change the product's price instead.

<DocsSteps>

1. Open the product page and set its price to €49.
2. Turn on **Show a promotion**, enter €65 as the initial price and save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the store shows €65 crossed out next to €49. The initial price must be strictly higher than the price including tax, otherwise it doesn't show. Restore the original price when the event ends.
