## T-shirt in sizes and colors

**Example**: a €25 T-shirt in S, M, L, White or Black, 10 pieces per combination.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Create a product** > **Physical product** > **Validate**. Enter the name, photos and description.
2. In **Product pricing**, turn on **Offer variations**.
3. In **Variant name**, type **Size** + **Enter**, then **Color** + **Enter**.
4. First row: **S**, **White**, quantity **10**, **€25**.
5. **Add a variation** for the 5 other combinations: each row copies the previous price and stock, change the size and color.
6. Add the black photo on the **Black** rows, then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: each combination has its own stock: Black M sold out, the others stay on sale. For a Size filter, see [Categories and filters](#categories-and-filters).

Learn more: [Offer sizes or colors](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#offer-sizes-or-colors).

## Ebook or PDF

**Example**: an 80-page guide sold as a PDF for €12.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Create a product** > **Digital product** > **Validate**. Fill in the name, cover and description.
2. In **File to download**, add `yoga-beginners-guide.pdf` (up to 10 files).
3. **Amount incl. VAT**: **€12**. Leave the **Quantity** empty.
4. If the VAT rate differs from your store's, turn on **Set a VAT rate**, then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the customer gets their link by email, with no shipping fees. A replaced file is served to every buyer on their next download.

## Workshop with limited seats

**Example**: a ceramics workshop on Saturday 14 November at 2 pm, 12 seats at €45 and 4 student seats at €35.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Create a product** > **Event** > **Validate**.
2. In **Event date and location**, write the date, time and address.
3. Turn on **Offer variations**, **Rate** variant: **Full** (**12**, **€45**) and **Student** (**4**, **€35**).
4. If needed, turn on **Add custom text fields** (participant's level), then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: each registration removes a seat from the chosen rate, full at zero, with no shipping fees. Attendees are in your [orders](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/orders.md) (export their emails for a reminder). The date is free text, so switch the workshop to **Inactive** after the session or duplicate it.

## Subscription box

**Example**: a tea box at €29 per month with no end date, or €25 per month over 12 months.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Create a product** > **Subscription** > **Validate**.
2. **Product pricing**: **€29**, **Frequency** per month, **Duration** indefinitely.
3. For the commitment, turn on **Offer variations**, **Plan** variant, second row at **€25** with **Duration** for 12 months, then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: first installment paid when ordering, then a monthly charge. Follow and cancel in [Subscriptions](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/subscriptions.md); a member customer cancels from their personal area. No shipping fees (include sending in the price). Durations go up to 24 months; a yearly subscription runs until cancellation.

Learn more: [Subscription](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#subscription).

## Collecting donations

**Example**: €10, €25 or €50, or a custom amount from €5, one-time or monthly.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Create a product** > **Donation** > **Validate**.
2. **Suggested amounts**: **€10**, **€25**, **€50**, each with a short description ("One meal"…).
3. Turn on **Custom amount**, **Minimum amount** **€5**.
4. **Available frequencies**: keep **One-time** and **Monthly**, choose the **Default frequency**.
5. Donations without VAT: **Set a VAT rate** to **0**, then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the donor picks an amount and frequency and receives the **Donation confirmation** email. Monthly donations are charged automatically and followed in [Subscriptions](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/subscriptions.md). Absolute minimum: €0.50.

Learn more: [Donation](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#donation).

## Quote-only service

**Example**: a "Showcase website design" page with a **Request a quote** button leading to your contact form.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Create a product** > **Informational page** > **Validate**. Fill in name, images and description.
2. Turn on **Add a link in a button**: **Button text** "Request a quote", **Button link** to your contact page, then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the page shows in the catalog with no buy button. Once accepted, the quote is paid outside the store, or through a hidden product created at the agreed price.

## Pre-order or launch on a set date {#pre-order-or-launch}

**Example**: an illustrated notebook shipping from 1 December.

Vivlab has no pre-order mode or scheduled release. Two options:

<DocsSteps>

1. Sell now, ship later: create a dedicated [shipping method](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/shippings.md) with **Set a fixed date** on 1 December.
2. On the notebook, turn on **Associate the product with specific shipping**, select that method and state the shipping date in the description.
3. Launch without early sales: keep the product **Inactive** and switch it to **Available** on the day.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: at checkout, the customer sees 1 December instead of the delay in days, which comes back on its own after that date.

Learn more: [Announce a fixed date](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/shippings.md) and [Shipping and pickup: common cases](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/guides/shipping.md).

## Unlimited or tracked stock, with alerts {#unlimited-or-tracked-stock}

**Example**: print-on-demand cards with no limit, and candles you want to hear about below 3 pieces.

<DocsSteps>

1. Cards: leave the **Quantity** empty (**Unlimited** in the table).
2. Candles: enter the real quantity, variant by variant.
3. In the **Notifications** pane of the **Settings** window (your avatar menu), turn on **Stock alert** with an **Alert threshold** of **3**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: when a variant reaches 3, you get an email and **Qty** is underlined in the table; at zero, it can no longer be ordered. Unlimited products never trigger an alert.

Learn more: [Manage stock](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#manage-stock) and [Stock alert](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/preferences.md#stock-alert).

## Take products off sale at the end of the season {#end-of-season}

**Example**: 20 swimsuits to take off until May.

<DocsSteps>

1. In **Products**, search for "swimsuit" and check the rows.
2. **More actions** > **Change status**: **Inactive** stops selling, **Hidden** removes them from the catalog while keeping the direct link working. Click **Validate**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: pages and stock are kept; in spring, switch them back to **Available**. For a whole category, you can also [hide it](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/collections.md#hide-a-category).

Learn more: [Take a product off sale](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#take-a-product-off-sale).

## Change the prices of a whole range {#change-the-prices-of-a-range}

**Example**: candles go from €18 to €19.50.

<DocsSteps>

1. In **Products**, **⋮** menu > **Edit products**.
2. **Price** column: **19.50** for each candle (a product with variants unfolds: change each variant).
3. Check the change counter, then **Save**: only the changed values are sent.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: prices change right away. There is no automatic percentage increase: ask Assistant Vivlab (**Assistant** button on the Products page) "raise the prices of the Candles category by 5%", it proposes the prices and only applies them once you confirm.

Learn more: [Change the prices or stock of several products](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#edit-products).

## Strikethrough price

**Example**: the "Linen" dress goes from €65 to €49 during the sales.

<DocsSteps>

1. On the product, set the **Amount incl. VAT** to **€49**.
2. Turn on **Show a promotion**, initial price **€65**, then **Save**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: the store shows €65 struck through next to €49. The initial price must be strictly higher than the sale price. With no automatic end date, restore the price and turn off the option after the sale. For a code entered at checkout, see [Discounts and coupons: common cases](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/guides/discounts.md).

Learn more: [Show a strikethrough price](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#flag-a-promotion).

## Import an existing catalog {#import-a-catalog}

**Example**: 150 products from Shopify, or a supplier's Excel file.

<DocsSteps>

1. First create your [categories](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/collections.md) and [filters](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/facets.md): the import ignores values that do not exist.
2. Export as CSV from Shopify or PrestaShop, or keep the supplier file (CSV, Excel, PDF or photo).
3. In **Products**, **⋮** menu > **Import with the assistant**. Drop up to 8 files (18 MB in total), then **Analyze**.
4. Uncheck the products to leave out, then **Create**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: rows with the same name become the variants of one product, with prices, stock and images. The assistant does not invent prices or stock: check a few products. Empty catalog: **Create a product** > **Import my products** with **My shop link** collects the public products of your former site. With the Confort plan and [Amazon Seller Central connected](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/integrations.md#amazon), each **Physical product** offers **Create from the Amazon catalog** (keyword, ASIN, SKU or EAN): name, images, weight, reference, categories, filters and description are pre-filled.

Learn more: [Import a catalog](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/products.md#import-products-with-the-assistant).

## Categories and size and color filters {#categories-and-filters}

**Example**: **Clothing** with **T-shirts** and **Sweatshirts**, **Size** and **Color** filters.

<DocsSteps>

1. **Categories** > **Create a category**: **Clothing**. Hover over it, **Add a sub-category**: **T-shirts**, then **Sweatshirts**.
2. **Filters** > **Create a facet filter**: **Size**, values **S**, **M**, **L**, **XL** (one per line). Same for **Color**.
3. On each product, **Product categorization**: category and filter values. In bulk: check products, **More actions** > **Edit categories** or **Edit filters**.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: visitors browse **Clothing > T-shirts** and check **M** and **Black**. Filters do not read variants: check **M** on a T-shirt available in M. Where filters sit is set in the [Category page](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/themes-categories.md#show-the-filters).

Learn more: [Categories](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/collections.md) and [Filters](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/facets.md).

## Weight for shipping

**Example**: a 0.35 kg mug; shipping €4.90 up to 1 kg, €7.90 above.

<DocsSteps>

1. On the mug, **Shipping and VAT** card, turn on **Add a weight to the product**: **0.35**.
2. In **Shipping**, open the shipping method: **Weight-based pricing**.
3. Band up to **1** kg at **€4.90**, band with no maximum at **€7.90**, then save.

</DocsSteps>

**Result**: Vivlab adds up the cart weight: two mugs (0.70 kg) pay €4.90, three (1.05 kg) €7.90. A product without weight counts as 0 kg; the weight applies to every variant.
