# Register

A register is a checkout station. Each device uses one register, chosen when unlocking. Registers are managed in **Settings > Registers**, available to the **Manager** role only.

- **Create a register**: give it a **Register name**, for example "Main register".
- **Rename a register**: open it in the list. The name is what your team sees when choosing a register.
- **Change register** on this device: open the register you want and tap **Change register**.

The Free plan is limited to one register. Closings are done register by register: see [Closing](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/pos/closing.md).
