# Password-protected page

This page opens the **password form** in the editor, with the same tools as your pages. It is what a visitor sees on a password-protected [page](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/pages.md) until they enter the right password. It shows between your site's header and footer and applies to all your protected pages.

<DocsAccess />

Open it from [Themes](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/sections/branding.md), **Website** tab. A page's password is set in the editor's [Page](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/editor/menu/page.md) panel.

Come here to give this form your brand's tone: an image, a welcome text, a link to contact you.

## Elements

The **Elements** button offers the element of the protected page:

- **Password form**: the password field, its button and the message shown for a wrong password.

The lock is a [Social media](https://docs.vivlab.com/en/editor/menu/icon-group.md) element with a single icon and no link: change its icon, size or color, or delete it. The title and the explanation are regular text blocks, written in your dashboard's language: edit them like any text, they are translated for your visitors like the rest of your site. You can also add other regular blocks: images, texts, buttons…

## Change the layout

On first opening, the page takes the structure of the original form. To start from another layout:

<DocsSteps>

1. Click the page background: the **Protected page** panel opens.
2. In **Templates**, click **Change**, then pick **Centered**, **Split**, **Card** or **Minimal**.
3. Confirm with **Replace**.

</DocsSteps>

The sections are replaced, but the texts you typed on the elements are kept, as are those of your text blocks when the new template has the same run of titles and paragraphs. You can undo the change. **Reset layout** goes back to the original structure.

## Publish

**Publish layout** first checks that the **Password form** is there on desktop and mobile, shows a preview, then puts the page live with the header and footer. Until the layout is published, visitors see the original form.
