Sales and checkout

Use Sale to prepare a customer’s cart, then proceed to checkout. Step-by-step instructions with examples are in the register use cases.

A sale in three steps

  1. In Sale, add products to the cart by tapping them in the grid, searching for them or scanning their barcodes.
  2. Check the quantities and total. If needed, tap Add member to attach the customer, then add a coupon.
  3. Tap Charge, then choose a payment method to pay for the sale.

Prepare the cart

  • Add a product by tapping it in the grid or scanning its barcode.
  • Find a product with the Search by name or SKU field.
  • Change an item’s quantity with the + and − buttons, or remove a line.
  • Clear cart before starting another sale.

Every item must exist in the catalogue: the register doesn’t offer open-amount sales. The catalogue is managed in Products and Categories.

Attach a customer and add a coupon

  • Tap Add member to attach an existing customer to the cart or create their record (Pro plan).
  • Correct the customer with Change member or Remove member.
  • Open Cart actions, then Add a coupon, and enter the Coupon code.
  • To take the coupon off, reopen its window from Cart actions and tap Remove.

The register doesn’t let you enter a custom discount, as an amount or a percentage: a discount always goes through a coupon created in advance. Loyalty points can’t be redeemed at checkout. See Apply a discount and Sell to a known customer.

See Customers and Discounts to prepare the records and coupons used at the register.

Hold a sale and prepare a quote

Held tickets and quotes require the Pro plan.

  • Open Cart actions, then Hold ticket to serve another customer.
  • Open Cart actions, then Save as quote, and enter a Name or reference.
  • Find a document in Held tickets & quotes, then tap Resume sale. The current cart must be empty: save or clear it first.
  • From the same screen, use Print document or Delete saved ticket.

The Quotes section has the details.

Take payment

  • Tap Charge to move from the cart to payments.
  • Choose from Card, Cash, Cheque, Bank transfer and Credit note.
  • For cash, enter the amount handed over: the register shows the change due.
  • For card, have the customer pay on your own terminal, then tap Accept in the register. The register doesn’t control a payment terminal.
  • To split the payment, tap Add a payment and follow the Remaining balance.
  • To use a credit note, choose Credit note and scan or enter its reference.
  • Tap Complete purchase to record the receipt.

Checkout is blocked without an internet connection, or while the SIRET or the business address is missing, or a product has no VAT rate (and no default rate applies). The message tells you what to complete. The register doesn’t support gift cards or meal vouchers.

See Pay with two payment methods and Take a card payment.

Find documents after a sale

  • Receipts: find a receipt, print it again (marked "DUPLICATE") or send it by email. A completed receipt can’t be cancelled.
  • Returns: process items a customer brings back, from the sale receipt.
  • Credit notes and Refunds: the two possible outcomes of a return.
  • Invoices: the register issues receipts, not invoices in the customer’s name.

The register doesn’t offer exchange vouchers: for an exchange, record a return as a credit note, then use the credit note on the new sale.
