Online payments

This page activates and configures Stripe, the partner that processes card payments on your store. Come here whenever you open your store for the first time, when Stripe asks you for additional documents or when you want to check the status of your payments account.

Once set up, the corresponding bank transfers can be found in Recent payouts.

Activate Stripe

Vivlab partners with Stripe to process your customers' payments, manage your online activity and ensure your funds are available as quickly as possible. Stripe handles 3D Secure, bank data encryption and the transfer of funds to your account.

If no Stripe account is linked to your store yet, the page shows an introduction to online payments: click Get started to initiate the account creation. Activation requires an active Vivlab subscription; without one, the button sends you to My account to pick a plan.

Caution

As long as Stripe isn't activated and fully validated, your customers cannot pay for their orders online. If Stripe asks you for additional documents, handle the request without delay: an incomplete account can suspend payments and block your payouts.

Follow the activation steps

Once the account is initiated, the Connect Stripe to charge your customers panel tracks the setup, step by step. Each step shows its status (Done, To do now or Pending) and a counter sums up the progress, for example 2/4 steps:

  1. Initiate the Stripe account: your store's email address and contact details are sent to Stripe.
  2. Provide the documents to complete account creation: ID, proof of business and bank details (allow about 5 minutes).
  3. Finish opening the account: Stripe reviews your information within 24 to 48 business hours.
  4. Verify that online payment works: make a test payment to confirm activation.

The button at the bottom of the panel follows your progress: Continue setup while a step remains, then Manage Stripe account once everything is done.

Stripe configuration

The Continue setup button opens this section to finalize Stripe setup to receive online payments. You'll find Stripe's forms embedded directly here: complete a missing document, respond to a verification request… It all happens without leaving the dashboard.

Stripe account management

Once the four steps are done, the Manage Stripe account button opens this section to view and edit your Stripe account information: business details, payout IBAN…

Payment methods

Once Stripe is activated, this section controls the payment methods offered to your customers at checkout. Turn a payment method on to offer it at checkout, or off to remove it: the change takes effect immediately on your checkout page.

Stripe's settings module is embedded directly in the page: the list of methods on offer (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna…) depends on your Stripe account and its validation.

Payment method domain

Once Stripe is activated and able to process payments, this section registers your main domain name with Stripe so the express wallets and payment methods appear directly on your checkout page. This registration is required: without it, these payment methods don't show at checkout, even when they're enabled on your Stripe account.

To enable these payment methods, click Register domain: Vivlab sends your main domain to Stripe and starts its verification. If the domain is already registered, the button becomes Re-check and re-runs the verification to update each payment method's status after a change. Next to the domain name, a badge reads Enabled once the registration is in place, Not registered otherwise.

The table then summarises the status of each payment method on your domain, with the status Active when it's available at checkout or Inactive when it isn't yet:

  • Apple Pay: one-tap payment from an iPhone, iPad or Mac via Safari.
  • Amazon Pay: payment with the details saved on an Amazon account.
  • Google Pay: one-tap payment from an Android device or the Chrome browser.
  • Klarna: deferred or instalment payment.
  • Link: Stripe's accelerated checkout that reuses the details the customer already entered.
  • PayPal: payment through a PayPal account.

A custom domain is required

Registration applies to your main domain. Add a custom domain name and set it as the main one before registering, so the payment methods appear on the address your customers actually see. As long as no custom domain is configured, the section instead shows a Set up a domain button that takes you straight to the domain settings.
